Now that we’re in November, it truly feels like itβs the official start of the holiday season. I like November because I feel like it is the month when we can take a step back for just a bit before the holiday hustle and bustle begins. This is the month to save on energy. We must rest up for what’s to come. Letβs enjoy the calmness of this month.
Cozy
βCozy is a feeling β a blanket for the soul when the world feels a little too cold.β β Unknown
This is an excellent time to indulge in all things cozy. Just ask sweet man who has the most candles in our neighborhood. He’ll happily tell you that I do and that they are all lit. But don’t worry, most of them are battery-powered! Candle-lit nights all aglow are something that soothes me.

Comfort
βComfort food isnβt just about flavor β itβs about the memories simmering beneath it.β β Unknown
At this time of year, many of us prepare comfort foods because they also soothe us. Soups and stews are prepared much more often than cold salads. This past week, I made a big pot of chili.

As the days grow shorter I tend to get all my cookbooks out to look for a new recipe to add to the mix. Because I am not outside gardening as much I like to try new things in the kitchen. This week I made Cod fillets stuffed with crabmeat stuffing. It was delicious. I am so glad I tried something new! I don’t have a picture of the fish dish but take my word it was scrumptious!
I am enjoying a new Keurig coffee machine. I am a tea drinker but some days at Mid-morning, I make myself a perfectly crafted cinnamon dulce latte. (Starbucks keurig cup.) The best part of my latte is the cold foam froth I make for it. I sit outside with a favorite mug and just relax! Pure Comfort!

I enjoy the quiet of the morning when drinking my coffee outside.
βIn November, the earth sleeps β but the soul awakens to thankfulness.β β Unknown
Here in Arizona
November is a month when all Arizonians embrace it for its cooler temperatures. We tend to gather with friends more often, and we love spending time outdoors on our back patios with them.

Here in Arizona we donβt have to worry about the time change. Because we don’t change them. Life still goes on!

Here in Arizona I am enjoying our roses. They loved the monsoon summer rains!

Thankful
βGratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.β β Melody Beattie
Lately, Iβve been reminded of the power of gratitude. I try not to get caught up in all the chaos of everyday life, but now is the time to pause and take a moment to notice all the good. There is so much to be thankful for. When I take the time to notice the good around me I remind myself how deeply blessed we are.
As I wrap this up, I want to express my gratitude to you β the ones who take a few minutes to read my words, connect with me, and share this time. Your comments always make my day. Two Trails One Road has my heart. Iβm genuinely grateful for each of you who follow along.

Roses blooming and Christmas decorations – I like it! I do so wish NH didn’t change the time, but in order to combat darness arriving around 4 in the afternoon, I got out my first strand of tiny white lights for the mantle. I haven’t gotten out the decorations, but the light help with the darkness. Your chili looks absolutely delicious. Hope it warmed the body and the soul.
Oh, the chili was all comfort! I froze some so that we have food here to eat while I recuperate from surgery. I have been doing that. There will be plenty of food in the freezer.
I am glad you are adding the twinkling lights. It soothes the soul!
Happy November!
Nancy, so glad you are enjoying your winter home in Arizona. The roses are beautiful You are smart to be stocking up the freezer. I made a huge pot of Chicken and Dumplings last week and froze most of it for later. Nancy, I am grateful for you, too.
Awe, thank you, Beth. How sweet of you to say.
And yes, we will have lots of food to eat in preparation for my recuperation.
Chicken and dumplings sound soooooo good!
Happy November!
I understand how you would want to decorate earlier than usual with the surgery coming up. You just never know how much you might feel like doing — and there will still be plenty! Cards or wrapping or all those things that come closer to the wire. Sending all good wishes for that. I love your little Santa! That chili looks delish.
The chili was delicious! And I froze some so we can have more when I am recuperating from surgery.
Thanks for your sweet comments always!
Happy November. I hope your foot is feeling better.
Your roses are spectacular, Nance! And suddenly I have the urge for some November chili!
The chili was delicious! You must make some.
Thanks for the rose love.
Happy November!
Happy November my friend!
Thank you Dorothy!
Nancy…so pretty and right on with your comments, It is a time of gratitude…yes, we should be grateful everyday and I try to be…but if one misses…Thanksgiving is the perfect time to show our thankfulness for each day we are given. We never know what tomorrow will bring. I love lots of candles too and there is nothing like sitting with a cup of hot tea and enjoying the flicker of candlelight…even if they are battery operated. For me that is a good thing. Happy November my sweet friend.
Thank you Kari! Happy November. Thankful for you.
Your tidbits never fail to impress me!! Such a beautiful spirit. Chiliβ yum!!
Oh thank you! Hugs!!
Happy November! We have close relatives that live in AZ and we know they love this time of year when it is cooler and they can spend more time outdoors. Your photos are all lovely!
Well thank you so much. How nice of you to stop by and spread kindness.
We do enjoy it here.
Happy November!
You really captured what is wonderful about the month of November! I love that AZ doesn’t have DST. When I grew up in Indiana, IN also didn’t have DST. I thought it so weird (and still do!) to change clocks twice a year when I moved to Ohio. Now Indiana also has DST which makes me sad for it but whatever, there’s nothing I can do about it! Your flowers are amazing. How cool that you guys get to enjoy your outdoor spaces now that many of us have had to accept that we won’t be out much in our outdoor areas until springtime :).
Thanks for the visit. We enjoy AZ because the weather is fabulous right now.
Always great to hear from you!
Oh the roses are beautiful, Nancy! I wish we would stay on one timeπ The chili looks delicious and I would love a bowl for dinner tonight. I would love to share a cinnamon dulce latte with cold foam froth with you on the patio! You will be glad you have your Christmas decorations up before your surgery. You can recover enjoying the decor. Love the monarch capture! I am praying for a successful surgery and quick recovery!
Thank you so much Pam. I am ready! A little nervous but ready!
Happy November my dear friend!
Happy November Nancy! A pot of chili, cozy candlelight and a warming latte are comforting for the soul! I so wish theyβd leave the clocks alone, one way or the otherβ¦it takes a couple of weeks to get adjusted. I taking some photographs outdoors today and realized I forgot to take into account the time change and was an hour off for the optimum lighting. π΅βπ« Beautiful roses and great monarch capture! Wishing you a wonderful week ππ§‘
Thank you dear Mary for your sweet comments. I still have no idea why the clocks change. So glad we donβt.
Thanks for all the love.
Happy November!
Another fine, lovely post, Nancy.
Thank you Mitzy!
We have mostly battery powered candles around too. I love the sound of your cod recipe!
It was very good!
Thanks for the visit.
Happy November!
Wishing you a wonderful November filled with all things cozy, warm, and delightful. Your sitting area is so calm and inviting a perfect place to enjoy a cinnamon dulce latte!
Thank you Mary. Come have a latte with me.
Happy November!
I am with you all the way with this cozy time of year, Nancy! Love your decor on the mantel. We changed the clocks back. Still hate it but falling back isn’t as bad as springing forward. And now its light in the morning. Now I’ll have to think twice before calling my brother in Fountain Hills.
Thanks for sharing your florals and decor with Flower Hour! πΈπ
Thanks for hosting!
Yes. The clock thing use to drive me crazy!
Thank you always for your visits. Always so good to hear from you.
Happy November!
Your home and outdoor patio is very beautiful. November is a rather busy month here, lots of parent-teachers conferences that is due before the start of December. ..and it is dark with very little daylight. However, it is unusually warm! We had a low of 50F last night, which is unheard of in our area. We often have snow by now. I actually saw a blooming marigold on my walk to work yesterday morning. Speaking of pretty flowers, your roses look amazing.
Thank you, Maria. I remember the days when I taught, and November was always busy due to end-of-year reports on students.
Thank you for your kind words, my friend.
Enjoy the little things November will bring for you, my friend.
Thank you!
Hi Nancy! Iβm a big candle lover, too, and love my battery, timer candles and also the ones to light. How wonderful not to have to change clocks!! Your patio is just so beautiful and I do remember that you were going to decorate early for your upcoming surgery. Iβm praying for you. Happy November Blessings!
Thank you Kitty! I thank you for your prayers!
Happy November to you sweet friend.
Ohhh…yes! Early November…the time to “take a step back” and eat the comforting foods, light a candle, grab a blanket and slow down. I love the perspective, Nancy Lou and this post. Sending hugs! π
Slow Go I Am!
Thanks for the love Vicki Lou!
You’re making me smile…sorry to be extra slow in getting to your Tuesday post…on Friday. But you know I look forward to reading/enjoying…with a good cup of tea at the moment and my fave fuzzy sweater. Mwah! π
You are so sweet. Regardless of the day, I always enjoy hearing from you. I know you were busy signing books! Way to go, Vicki Lou!
Aww…thank you for understanding. It’s been a fun and extra busy week. Exactly why your post was a welcome read! xo! π

I discovered battery powered lights last year. They sound so cheesy, but they are wonderful and they flicker! Amazing! And no fire danger. Enjoy your temperate fall in AZ where the time steadily ticks on without the hassle the rest of us endure.
I am so glad you found battery candles. They have come a long way.
Thanks for all the love!
Happy November!
There is something special about November when fall is in full swing and the holidays are around the corner. Despite being in Florida for the winter where fall is not as cozy and wonderful, we still enjoy the special Thanksgiving and Christmas movies, and the fall feeling on all the blogs. Happy November.
Thank you for the visit! Stay cozy! πππ
