Tuesday Tidbits #369 Tea for One with Tea on Tuesdays

It’s Time for Tea

Welcome to April’s Tea on Tuesdays

I am delighted to be joining my sweet Tea-Loving friends Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is and Pam from Everyday Living for their Tea On Tuesdays, which is always the third Tuesday of each month. These gals always have stunning photos and creative ideas to share for Tea Time. Thank you gals for inviting me. It’s always an honor.

I am so happy you are joining us today as well. You’ll be able to find Mary and Pam’s links for their teas at the bottom of this post.

Tea for One

There’s something special about setting a tea time just for one. A moment to pause. It’s not just tea—it’s a little act of self-care. It’s choosing to surround myself with beauty, even on an ordinary day. Our coffee table, set for tea, feels like a quiet, joyful hug. We’re often reminded to use the pretty things, not to leave them tucked away in a china cabinet. Today, I’m taking that to heart.

“Teatime is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate our surroundings.” ~Letitia Baldrige

This Tuesday, I kept things simple but cheerful. First, I chose the floral table topper I found in Oberammergau, Germany, a few years ago, from one of our adventures. This topper is one of my favorites.

I brewed a cup of Taylor’s lemon orange tea—a gift from my son last Mother’s Day. I poured it into a special yellow rose vintage teacup. This little treasure goes way back, found one afternoon while antiquing. There’s just something about yellow. It was my mom’s favorite color, and it never fails to make me smile. So does this teacup. It reminds me of the Peace rose blooming in our garden.

Last year’s Peace Rose

This year’s Peace Rose took on a more coral color around the edges.

“If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I’d be picking roses for a lifetime.” — ~Swedish Proverb

And of course, a plate of homemade lemon bars—just the right mix of tart and sweet. Soft touches of yellow surround me. A vintage hand-painted plate with roses, a gift from a dear friend who has since passed, joins me today. I usually display it in the kitchen each spring, but today it feels best right here.

The yellow depression glass plates, along with the creamer and sugar bowl, were gifts from my Sweet Man—he does love a surprise.

From my milk glass collection, I found the perfect little bud vase for a yellow rose on the tray. And I couldn’t resist bringing out my handmade tea cosy from England, found on Etsy.

“When there’s tea there’s hope.” ~ Sir Arthur Pinero

To the left sits a swan vase, borrowed from a friend, filled with yellow carnations and baby’s breath. Another friend lent me a white linen napkin trimmed in yellow stitching. Their thoughtfulness makes this time feel even more special. When I mention Tea on Tuesdays, they’re always eager to join in and help—it means so much.

One swan looks to the front while the other looks to the back.

A lovely stitched napkin.

I settled onto the couch and took my time. No rushing, no to-do list—just a few quiet moments to enjoy the tea, the lemon treat, and the simple pleasure of it all. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to reset the day.

“It’s always tea time.” ~ Lewis Carroll

A small pause. A bit of care for me.
All this, in a teacup. 💛

Because sometimes, the sweetest company is found in these small moments—and in remembering that we are worth the effort of setting a pretty table, even just for ourselves.

A Souvenir

I just had to add my darling souvenir to my tea time. It’s not a teacup, but it’s a cute little handmade piece of pottery. I found it in the Azores on our last adventure.

Do you see the little espresso cup with the daisies on it? I found it in a cute pottery shop in the Azores.

  3. Good morning Nancy! Your choice of the color yellow is so happy on this early morning 💛 I always enjoy a tea for one, it does give a chance to slow down, be still, and embrace the moment! I am for using the beautiful things everyday and not for a later time that might not come. Taylor’s lemon orange sounds perfect in your vintage yellow rose teacup that is a beauty. Wow, the Peace rose blooming in your garden is stunning! I love a lemon bar and it would be perfect with my strong cup of coffee this morning. The hand-painted plate, the yellow depression glass, tea cosy, and the swan vase combine to offer a most charming tea for one setting!

It is always a pleasure for you to join us for Tea On Tuesdays 💛☕️🫖💛

      I saved you a lemon bar. 💛
      Happy Tuesday dear friend.

  4. Beautiful presentations! It makes me want to invite a friend over for tea. It also was a wonderful reminder that I should use my lovely tea set when I have “tea for one.” I generally just use an old mug when I have tea by myself.

    1. It is fun to use the pretty stuff. I don’t go to this extent all the time but I do enjoy using my teacups. Especially if they have memories attached to them.
Thank you for stopping by and spreading kindness. Have a blessed Tuesday.
      💛🍋🫖☕️

  5. Good morning Nancy, your table is a breath of fresh air and sunshine. It is raining here today, so I am enjoying your sweet table with a cup of tea. Love the cheerful vibes. The yellow is so calm and makes me happy. The peace rose is lovely as is the pretty teacup. The tea cozy is precious.

    1. Good Morning Linda. Thank you for enjoying my Sunshine Tea time. I enjoyed putting this vignette together.
Enjoy the little moments my dear.
      Happy Tuesday!

    1. The tea was delicious. Thank you for the visit. I do have more tea and teacups. So pull up a chair. There are plenty of lemon bars left.
      Happy Tuesday! 💛🍋

  6. I can just picture you having your cozy tea for one at your darling table, Nancy. The tea cloth is sooooo pretty beautiful and sets the stage for all your yellow pieces. The teacup and the plate with lovely memories are so pretty, as are the yellow depression pieces from your Sweet Man. I smiled at thinking how your friends like to lend special pieces for your Tea on Tuesday post, and be a part of the experience. Now, before I leave, I’d like a lemon bar and some of your lemon orange tea, please! Thank you for the beauty this morning! 💛

    1. Good Morning Dear Kitty. I have plenty of Lemon Bars left. I will get another tea cup out just for you.
Thank you always for your kind words. I always enjoy hearing from you.
      Happy Tuesday! 🍋💛

  7. Nancy you are so right…that old saying “stop and smell the roses” can be taken literally with your lovely tea for one today. I adore yellow and am enamored with your lovely setting. I will always remember a spaghetti strap yellow dress and shoes that I wore many, many years ago while on a float in a small town parade,…. that received so many lovely compliments (I think it was a combination of my red hair and the yellow dress) but I knew then yellow was going to be my sig-nuh-chuh color! LOL I especially love your yellow depression glass…do you know the pattern? I collect the green Cameo, yellow Florentine, pink Adam and several others. I also took note of your little owl trinket box. We collectors are a different breed aren’t we? I would love to sit a table for one and match every element of your gorgeous coffee table. You’ve left nothing undone. Have a bright sunny yellow day my friend. Hugs🌻🤗👍🌼🌞🏵️💛

    1. I looooovvve yellow! So glad to hear you do as well.
I need to look up what the yellow depression glass is. I will get back to you. We have a whole set.
And yes, we collectors are of a different breed. I do enjoy the hunt. That’s most of the fun!
Thank you for your kindness. Enjoy your Tuesday! 💛☕️🍋

    1. Thank you for stopping by and spreading kindness. I have lots of tea and lemon bars left!
      Enjoy your Tuesday! 💛🍋

  8. Oh my goodness Nancy, what a happy and beautiful tea table! Everything and it’s accompanying sweet story is such a joy to read about! Those lemon bars look delicious. Have a great day, and thank you Nancy for making my day brighter too! 💛🍋💛

    1. It was my pleasure! 💛
I am so glad you enjoyed the tea time.
      Thank-you always for your kindness!
      Enjoy your Tuesday! 💛🍋

  9. Pur-tea-y as can be! No, really, it’s beautiful except there’s no “tea” in “beautiful” (actually there is but it’s backwards, hehe)! Everything is truly lovely and your words are also little works of art to elevate the pictures and create a serene mood. I enjoy a lemon loaf flavored tea- it’s incredibly good!

    1. I have had lemon loaf tea! It’s delicious!
Thank you for your sweet words. How nice of you.
You take good care and take time to sip Lemon Loaf tea. 🍋💛

  10. What a tea-lightful post today! Your tea time for one is so special and made me realize how important it is to self-care with tea and such pretty table decor! Those lemon bars look soo delicious!!! Enjoyed this post so very much today!

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and then send me lovely comments. I appreciate you.
Take good care and have a wonderful week!

  11. Oh Nancy, where to start? I love yellow! The textiles – that tablecloth topper is exquisite, and that tea cozy is everything to me, please send the Etsy seller’s store link! The milk glass bud vase is not your ordinary, it’s unique, and all the dishes so sweet. The tea sounds like one I would love. Are you back in PA now, or do you grow roses in AZ? I love that variety, and this year’s coral highlights are beautiful!
    Happy Tea on Tuesdays!

    1. Thank you Rita! I so appreciate your sweet comments.
We are still in AZ. The spring is the best time to be in the desert. Roses do very well in AZ. In fact there are fields upon fields of roses just west of Phoenix. Arizona grows 75% of the countries rose bushes for nurseries.
I shall look up that tea cozy link for you.
Thank you once again for your kindness!
Have beautiful week. And enjoy some tea. 🍋💛

  12. Every detail is adorable! I’m not really a tea drinker, but I think I easily could be! Especially if I had some yummy homemade lemon bars. Those are the BEST! Happy Tuesday!

  13. Oh all that soft, gorgeous yellow, so beautiful, Nancy! The German topper, the depression glass, the roses and flowers decor, truly stunning and heartwarming!

Where do you store it all? And I may have asked this before, but is the image of you at the bottom from ChatGpt? I love it! Google images makes a cartoonish characature but I dont like the style. Yours and others I’ve seen look real and natural.

    1. Thank you, Terri! How nice of you.
I get very creative with how I store my pretties. 😁
As for the image of me. Yes, it’s from ChatGPT. They did a cartoon of me, which is great too. Then I asked for a softer version. Try it!
Thanks for your lovely comments! Have a blessed week.

  14. This is absolutely lovely! I wish I could join you for a cup! It’s so nice to do this for ourselves once in a while : ) I LOVE everything lemon so this table is making my heart sing. The cozy and the pottery are so special too! Have a happy spring day my friend. Save me a lemon bar! xx

    1. Oh hello sweet friend! So good to hear from you! Thank you for your kindness.
And yes! Please come enjoy a lemon bar with me!
      💛🍋💛
